Pakistan’s meat exports to China surge 208%Breaking

October 10, 2025

Pakistan’s meat exports to China witnessed a surge of 208% from January to August 2025 compared with the same period last year, Gwadar Pro reported quoting the data released by the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC). In the first eight months of 2025, Pakistan exported over $9.55 million worth of meat to China, up from $3.10 million in the same period of 2024.

Analysts attribute this sharp increase to a combination of factors, including improved quarantine cooperation, expanded access for Pakistani meat processing enterprises, and rising Chinese consumer demand for high-quality halal beef and mutton. Pakistan exported 1,613.051 tons of boiled beef to China from January to August this year, a significant jump from 645.973 tons during the same period in 2024.

Experts believe that China has approved multiple Pakistani meat exporters after they met the international sanitary and phytosanitary standards. Enhanced logistics connectivity, especially through Gwadar Port and the Khunjerab border has also shortened delivery time and reduced costs.

They further noted that with ongoing cooperation in animal health certification and processing standards, both sides are expected to further diversify trade in value-added meat products, contributing to agricultural modernization and food security in the region. Pakistan’s livestock sector has benefited from Chinese investments in modern breeding, feed technology, and cold chain infrastructure, ensuring consistent quality and supply.
