September 01, 2025

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday reaffirmed that Pakistan’s policies are closely aligned with President Xi Jinping’s vision of progress and shared prosperity, highlighting the enduring depth of the Pakistan-China partnership, China Economic Net reported. Addressing Pakistani students and faculty at Tianjin University, the Prime Minister urged youth to dedicate themselves to acquiring advanced knowledge and technology in China and later contribute their expertise toward Pakistan’s development.

He praised over 200 Pakistani students currently enrolled at the university, describing them as “ambassadors of Pakistan” and “torchbearers of Pak-China friendship.” The Prime Minister traced the historic roots of bilateral ties, recalling milestones such as Pakistan’s recognition of the People’s Republic of China, the first direct PIA flight to Beijing, and construction of the Karakoram Highway. He emphasized that the friendship, built on “unwavering commitment and sincerity” by earlier generations, had withstood the tests of history and would continue to flourish.

Highlighting China’s remarkable achievements under President Xi’s leadership, including lifting 800 million people out of poverty and emerging as the world’s second-largest economy, the Prime Minister lauded Beijing’s long-term strategic vision. He said Pakistan draws inspiration from China’s experience in eradicating poverty, advancing technology, and sustaining growth. Shehbaz Sharif also outlined his government’s initiatives, noting that 30,000 Pakistani students are studying in China, with 1,000 agriculture graduates sent for specialized training.

He emphasized the importance of vocational education and urged Pakistan’s youth bulge to work with China in unlocking new horizons of cooperation. “Pakistan and China share a common destiny,” the Prime Minister said, vowing that the time-tested friendship would remain unshakable and continue to serve as a model of trust, progress, and shared prosperity.
