Power Cement to build 7.5MW captive wind power plantBreaking

September 30, 2025

Pakistan’s Power Cement Ltd. on Monday announced what it called the country’s “first-ever” green transaction to install a 7.5-megawatt captive wind power plant. The project is supported by a PKR 1.5 billion financing facility from Burj Clean Energy Modaraba. It will be constructed by Orient Energy Systems using turbines from the Chinese manufacturer Goldwind.

In a statement, Power Cement said the initiative would reduce its reliance on fossil fuels and contribute to Pakistan's industrial decarbonisation, Gwadar Pro reported on Tuesday. The deal highlights a growing trend of Pakistani industrial firms adopting captive wind power using Chinese technology.

Earlier in September, Goldwind reported that its portfolio of operational captive wind power projects in Pakistan had surpassed 76 MW, with another 118 MW under construction. Separately, a July statement indicated that the Karachi-based Liberty Mills is another major company in this green transition, with wind power projects totaling 113 MW.
