SK Hydro Limited held its 2024–2025 “Dreams Becoming Reality” education assistance ceremony at the Suki Kinari Hydropower Station where 29 local students received support for their studies in healthcare, engineering, and vocational training. The event was attended by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Mansehra, representatives of the local military, and senior company officials, according to Gwadar Pro.

The initiative, launched in September 2024, aims to provide education support to young people in the project area and is now in its second year. In his remarks, the DC of Mansehra congratulated the hydropower station on nearing its first anniversary of commercial operations and acknowledged its role in contributing to local development.

He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring a safe and stable environment for the project. Community infrastructure projects connected with SK Hydro, including a viewing platform and a government service center in the Khan area, are also under development. Since beginning operations in September 2024, the hydropower station has generated over 2.4 billion kilowatt hours of electricity, according to company figures.

Officials said the project is helping to provide clean energy to the national grid while supporting local communities through education and development programs. Following the ceremony, the DC of Mansehra and his delegation toured the powerhouse and switching station to review operational performance. He praised the project for maintaining safe and efficient power generation under challenging conditions and highlighted the effective cooperation between Chinese and Pakistani employees.

The 884 MW Suki Kinari Hydropower Station was built with investment from China Energy Overseas Investment Co., Ltd. and is part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework.
