Severe monsoon rains and flash floods since July 2025 have wreaked havoc across northern Pakistan, damaging infrastructure, disrupting transport links, and leaving many communities struggling to access relief, according to a report carried by Gwadar Pro on Thursday.
On July 24, the Suki Kinari Hydropower Project dispatched an excavator and two dump trucks to Chillas, 128 kilometers upstream, to help clear debris and reinforce embankments. In the following weeks, additional machinery was also deployed near the dam site to assist with flood recovery efforts.
The downpours have caused widespread damage to major roads, bridges, and other vital infrastructure, leaving many communities isolated and hampering the delivery of relief supplies. In some of the hardest-hit areas, including parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan, blocked routes and collapsed bridges cut off access for rescue teams.
