The University of Sargodha (UoS) has launched a six-month China Fellowship Program, a landmark initiative to strengthen academic collaboration and research on China’s global development vision. Jointly organized by the Pakistan Institute of China Studies (PICS) at UoS and the Institute for a Community with Shared Future (ICSF) at the Communication University of China (CUC) in Beijing, the program will be administered by ICSF and implemented by PICS. Participants will receive official certificates from CUC, Gwadar Pro reported.
“This fellowship will nurture scholars who can think critically, research rigorously, and contribute meaningfully to the Pakistan–China partnership,” said Prof. Dr. Tahir Mumtaz Awan, Director of PICS. “It focuses on the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and China’s Global Development, Governance, Security, and Civilization Initiatives.”
Eleven UoS departments have nominated students and faculty for the program. Over six months, participants will receive training in academic writing and policy briefs, conduct structured research, and attend lectures and study visits. At least 80 percent attendance is required for certification.
By deepening understanding of China’s development model and the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the fellowship aims to build a new generation of scholars contributing to Pakistan–China academic and policy dialogue. The inaugural session will be held today, October 14, at UoS with around 70 students and faculty members participating.
