The Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) and Xinjiang University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in academic research, policy studies, and institutional development. This will further deepen educational collaboration under China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The MoU was signed at a ceremony held at Xinjiang University, attended by senior officials and scholars from both sides, reports Gwadar Pro.
The event featured a symposium chaired by Dr. Liu Zhengjiang, Vice President of Xinjiang University, and included presentations on shared academic priorities and research directions. In his remarks, Dr Ma Xinbin, President of Xinjiang University, praised the longstanding friendship between China and Pakistan, calling the partnership a “model of mutual trust, learning, and academic growth.” Representing Pakistan, PIDE Vice-Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Nadeem Javaid underscored the strategic importance of academic cooperation in promoting regional connectivity and sustainable growth.
“Our collaboration with Xinjiang University will generate data-driven research that supports economic and social development across South and Central Asia,” he said, according to an official statement issued here. The MoU envisions joint research programs, faculty and student exchanges, and collaborative policy dialogues addressing regional trade, environment, innovation, and governance.
