Punjab Police achieved a major success against Katcha criminals as Rajanpur Police conducted a targeted operation in Kacha Umrani, Sukhani and Kacha Karachi areas, destroying dacoits’ hideouts and bunkers and forcing 11 highly dangerous members of the most-wanted Umrani gang to surrender along with heavy weapons. 

According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, modern technology was used during the operation, including drone surveillance and strikes, which resulted in the complete destruction of several hideouts and fortified bunkers of the dacoits. The sustained pressure mounted by police compelled the armed criminals to lay down their arms.

District Police Officer (DPO) Rajanpur Muhammad Imran said that the surrendered dacoits were wanted by police in multiple cases of kidnapping, murder, robbery and other heinous crimes. He said that all legal formalities were being completed to ensure exemplary punishment under the law. The DPO warned other criminal elements operating in the Katcha areas to surrender voluntarily, otherwise they would face strict police action. 

He added that an exchange of fire between police and criminals was still ongoing in some areas. Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar commended the professional performance of Rajanpur Police for compelling the dangerous dacoits to surrender and awarded them commendation. He said that operations against criminal elements would continue indiscriminately across the province under the zero-tolerance policy. 

The surrendered dacoits were identified as Muhammad Jameel son of Faqeera (Qaisrani), Yousaf Khan son of Murad (Umrani), Abdul Rasheed son of Murad (Umrani), Liaqat Ali son of Chheena Khan (Qaisrani), Ghulam Abbas son of Malho Khan (Umrani), Abdul Ghaffar son of Bakhsal Khan (Umrani), Muhammad Afzal son of Hathaan (Umrani), Hafiz Mureed son of Muhammad Jamal, Naseer Ahmed son of Sehwa, Mera Khan son of Naseer Ahmed (Umrani) and Bhatta son of Pathan.
