A potential tragedy was narrowly prevented in the district of Lakki Marwat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where an 18-kilogram improvised explosive device was successfully neutralized by the Bomb Disposal Squad personnel on Tuesday. The powerful IED was skillfully planted by unknown individuals on a dirt path in Mohalla Machan Khel which is located in the middle of Lakki city.

Initial reports suggested that the explosive was deliberately planted and was aimed at targeting security forces. Timely intelligence and rapid intervention by the Bomb Disposal Squad is what prevented a potentially catastrophic incident. The high-intensity explosive device, which was engineered for maximum impact, was safely defused in time, preventing mass casualties and widespread damage.The spokesperson for police said

“This was a highly calculated and cowardly attempt by anti-state elements to disrupt peace and target our forces”, further adding that “Lakki Marwat has been spared a major tragedy.”He concluded his remarks by saying that such nefarious attempts will not be allowed to succeed and will be thwarted at every turn, asserting the vigilance and determination of security forces to counter all threats from anti-state actors.
