The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter has said the 19th July resolution marks the Kashmiris’ unconditional love for Pakistan when on this day in 1947 they decided to link their future with Pakistan. APHC-AJK chapter Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi in a statement on the eve of Accession to Pakistan Day said the Resolution of Accession to Pakistan unanimously passed by the Kashmiri leadership in Srinagar on July 19, 1947, is not only a milestone in history but also remains the main reference for the Kashmiri people's struggle for freedom and their unwavering relationship with Pakistan.

He said that the resolution was a reflection of the collective consciousness, desire and passion of Kashmiri Muslims, under which they took the historic decision to associate their future with Pakistan on the basis of their political, cultural and religious affiliation. Other APHC-AJK leaders, including Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, Altaf Hussain Wani, Syed Faiz Naqashbandi and Shameem Shawl in their separate statements in Islamabad said the 19th July 1947 Resolution, which called for the accession of Jammu and Kashmir to Pakistan, holds even greater relevance today in light of current political developments in India.

They described the 19th July Resolution as a historic declaration that showcased the Kashmiri leadership’s resolve to protect the identity, culture and political future of the majority population of the territory. “The resolution represented the will of nearly 85 percent of the state’s population and affirmed their inherent right to self-determination,” they stated. Despite decades of brutal repression, Kashmiris remain undefeated in their pursuit of freedom from Indian occupation and will continue to draw strength from this foundational political resolution of 19 July 1947.

They said that the day had also assumed great significance in the history of Kashmir because the historic resolution was adopted a month before the creation of Pakistan and India under the Partition Plan. “This was the reason that the day when Pakistan came into being as a sovereign independent state, was celebrated throughout Jammu and Kashmir with great fanfare”, the statements said. They said that it was an undeniable fact that Jammu and Kashmir was geographically, historically and culturally linked to Pakistan. Referring to the Kashmiris' matchless sacrifices, they said the people of Kashmir have rendered matchless sacrifices to achieve the cherished goal of freedom.
