A terrorist attack on a police checkpost in Hangu  left three officers martyred and two others injured.The fierce exchange of fire took place at the Qazi Talab checkpost on Shahu Road, according to police and district authorities. Police confirmed that terrorists targeted the Qazi Talab police checkpost in Hangu’s Shahu Road area. District Police Officer (DPO) Khan Zeb Khan said the officers bravely fought the attackers. 

During the confrontation, the terrorists opened heavy fire, triggering a prolonged gun battle. Additional police teams later joined the operation led directly by the DPO.  Authorities said three police officers embraced martyrdom in the attack. Among those killed were LHC Waheed Shah and Constable Abdul Samad. Another officer also lost his life during the clash, the DPO confirmed. 

Two police personnel sustained injuries and were shifted to a medical facility for treatment. Security forces continue to search the area for the attackers.KP chief minister strongly condemns attack Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi sharply condemned the terrorist assault, calling it a cowardly act meant to destabilize peace. “Terrorists have no religion,” he said, adding that such attacks cannot demoralize the province’s security forces. 

Afridi vowed that all enemies of peace “will be brought to justice,” assuring that the provincial government stands firmly with the families of the martyrs and the injured officers. Authorities have launched a search operation in the surrounding areas to track down the assailants. The incident has heightened security concerns in the region, with reinforcement units deployed to strengthen vulnerable posts.
