Thousands of Sikh pilgrims have gathered in Hassan Abdal as the 327th Baisakhi celebrations on Monday began at the historic Gurdwara Panja Sahib, marking the birth anniversary of the Khalsa. The annual festival, which commemorates the founding of the Khalsa in 1699, opened with religious ceremonies, including prayers, recitations of Gurbani and traditional rituals.
The devotees assembled at the site to offer prayers and seek blessings. Gurdwara Panja Sahib was decorated for the occasion, as the worshippers from across the country and abroad took part in the celebrations. The atmosphere was marked by devotion and festivity at one of Sikhism’s most revered sites.
The authorities had put in place heightened security arrangements, along with facilities for accommodation and medical care, to support the influx of pilgrims and ensure a peaceful environment throughout the event, the official sources said. Baisakhi is of major religious significance for Sikhs, symbolising unity, faith and sacrifice. The celebrations also serve as an occasion for interfaith harmony and cultural exchange, bringing together visitors from diverse backgrounds.
