In view of incidents of terrorism, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has carried out 425 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in different cities of the Punjab during the last one month. The CTD has said that 49 militants were arrested during these operations carried out in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Toba Tek Singh, Hafizabad, Chakwal, Gujranwala, Dera Ghazi Khan, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Chiniot, Pakpattan, Khushab, Narowal, Sialkot, Attock and Vehari.
“Explosives, two hand grenades, six EID bombs, 36 detonators, pamphlets, cash, and prima cards were recovered from Shaukat, Naveed, Abdur Rehman, Amjad Khan, Muhammad Shahid, Muhammad Ibrar, Danish Khan, Khaleel Ahmad, Jameelur Rehman, Ihsanullah, Nadir, Waqas, Hasnain, Farooq, Jamshed, Aulad Khan and others,” it explained. The department has said an agent of Indian intelligence agency RAW was arrested from Lahore.
“Explosive material and maps of important installations were recovered from the possession of Mujtaba,” it elaborated. “The militants wanted to spread panic and fear in people by carrying out attacks at different places,” the CTD said, adding that 599 terror suspects were arrested in 6,131 combing operations carried out during the last month. It informed that 243546 people were also interrogated during the aforementioned period.
