7,359 screened for Hepatitis B, C in RawalpindiBreaking

Around 7,359 people have been screened for Hepatitis B and C during the second phase of the Local Hepatitis Elimination and Prevention (LHEAP) drive in Rawalpindi. The screening was conducted in four Union Councils (UCs) of the city - 10, 11, 14, and 15. Out of the 7,359 people screened, 142 tested positive for Hepatitis C and 33 for Hepatitis B. A total of 1,975 people have been immunized against Hepatitis B so far. Two pregnant women were also diagnosed with Hepatitis during the screening. The LHEAP drive is being carried out in collaboration with the US-based task force for Global Health. The aim of the drive is to vaccinate around 100,000 people against Hepatitis in Rawalpindi. The spokesman urged the residents to come forward and get themselves screened for Hepatitis free of cost.
