Investigators have succeeded in recovering over 100 GB data from the cellphone of Anmol alias Pinky, a drug dealer, who had been arrested from Karachi around a month ago.Investigation officer (IO) in the case had received the forensic report of Pinky’s cellphone data. They disclosed that 75,000 photographs and images had been recovered from the suspect’s cellphone.
Besides that, they informed, hundreds of screenshots of online transactions and bank slips had also been recovered. Sources went on to say that investigators had also been able to trace phone numbers of more than 13,000 people. It had emerged, they revealed, that Pinky had two WhatsApp accounts on her mobile phone. On Monday, a sessions court in Karachi rejected the bail applications of two co-suspects, Zeeshan and Sohail, who allegedly facilitated the prime suspect, Pinki, in a drug-related case registered at Garden Police Station.
During the hearing, defence counsel Rehman Ghani Khattak argued that the names of the petitioners were not included in the original first information report (FIR) and that they were implicated later during the course of the investigation.Opposing the bail pleas, Deputy District Public Prosecutor (DDPP) Arif Setai told the court that the involvement of co-suspects was found through forensic examination and analysis of the mobile phone records of Pinki.
The prosecutor further argued that suspicious financial transactions had been detected in the bank accounts of both men. According to the investigation, funds were allegedly transferred from their accounts to the main accused and other alleged accomplices. In its order, the court observed that the available material, including bank records and digital evidence collected during the investigation, was prima facie linked to the accused.
The court noted that aiding or abetting the manufacturing of narcotics is a serious offence under the Sindh Control of Narcotic Substances (CNS) Act. It further observed that the investigation material suggested that the petitioners had acted as assistants to the main suspect, Pinky, and another suspect, Humaira. The court also noted that an interim challan had already been submitted and held that, at this stage of the proceedings, the suspects were not entitled to bail.
