The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has arrested six suspects, including a woman, and seized 20 kilograms of narcotics worth more than Rs2.4 million during seven operations conducted around educational institutions and in various cities across the country, an ANF spokesperson said. He said that ANF recovered 1 kilogram of crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as “ice”, from a suspect near Haji Shah Mor in Attock district during an operation targeting drug supply near educational institutions.
The arrested suspect later confessed to selling narcotics to students. In other operations, ANF recovered 7.2 kilograms of hashish from a rickshaw intercepted near Iqbal Shaheed Toll Plaza in Attock and arrested the accused on the spot. Separately, 4 kilograms of ice were recovered from a suspect near a hotel in the Lakbadhar area of Jhang. In comparison, 3 kilograms of hashish were seized from a rickshaw near Sohrab Goth in Karachi, leading to the arrest of another suspect.
In another action near Iqbal Shaheed Toll Plaza, Attock, ANF recovered 2.4 kilograms of hashish from a vehicle and arrested the accused. In a separate operation at the same toll plaza, officials recovered 1.2 kilograms of hashish from a woman travelling in a passenger van. Meanwhile, ANF recovered 1.2 kilograms of hashish concealed in an electric stove at a courier office located on Ring Road in Peshawar. Cases have been registered against the arrested suspects under the Narcotics Control Act, 1997, and further investigations are underway, the spokesperson added.
