The four-day Special Anti-Polio Campaign commenced in Shaheed Benazirabad district on Monday and will continue from September 21 to 24, 2026. The campaign was formally inaugurated at the Mother and Child Healthcare Centre, Nawabshah, where Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad Division, Ghulam Qadir Khan Talpur cut the ribbon and administered polio drops to children. Later, the Commissioner visited Taluka Hospital Sakrand, Taluka Hospital Qazi Ahmed, Rural Health Centre Daur, and various polio transit and fixed points.

He reviewed campaign arrangements, deployment of polio teams, vaccination activities, relevant records, and finger-marking of vaccinated children. Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Ghulam Qadir Khan Talpur said polio was a dangerous but preventable disease and stressed the need to ensure vaccination of every child under five years of age. He urged parents to cooperate fully with polio teams and ensure that their children received polio drops to protect them from lifelong disability.

During visits to transit points in Nawabshah, Sakrand, Daur and Qazi Ahmed, the Commissioner met polio teams and reviewed their presence and performance. He directed the teams to ensure that no child travelling through transit points was missed. He also directed Assistant Commissioners of all talukas and Health Department officials to remain present in the field throughout the campaign and ensure effective monitoring of polio teams.

He further ordered that problems faced by teams in the field be resolved immediately to achieve the campaign’s targets. Assistant Commissioner Nawabshah Iqbal Ahmed Tunio, Divisional Polio Officer WHO Dr.Jahangir Korai, Assistant Commissioner Sakrand Rameez Raja, Assistant Commissioner Qazi Ahmed Saud Bin Manam, District Health Officer Dr. Mudassar Hussain and other concerned officers were also present on the occasion.
