Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar on Wednesday said that all matters related to the appointment of new chairman of the Implementation Tribunal for Newspaper Employees (ITNE) are resolved and the notification in this regard will be issued soon.The Federal Secretary of Information briefed the Senate standing committee about the role of the National Press Trust (NPT).

Senator Sarmad Ali said that print media is an important pillar of the State. The participants of the committee also reviewed the expenditures incurred on digital and social media.Sarmad Ali said that they should strengthen the print media. Attaullah Tarar said that reports about Google Analytics and web graphics are included in the advertisement policy 2024.

The role of the third party is also explained in this policy, he said and added the government will extend full support to the newspaper industry.The Federal Minister for Information constituted a sub-committee about regional newspapers and the Press Information Department (PID). The committee will submit its report on the circulation of newspapers. Senator Sarmad Ali said that there is a dire need to introduce reforms in the media list.
