Minister of State for Law and Justice, Barrister Aqeel Malik, on Thursday warned that despite Pakistan’s sincere efforts to resolve issues with Afghanistan peacefully, any misadventure from the Afghan side would be met with an aggressive  and determined response to protect the nation’s sovereignty and citizens. While conversing exclusively with a private news channel, Aqeel Malik said that Pakistan will not tolerate any threats to its national security.

He also referred to the recent mediation efforts by Turkey and Qatar, aimed at facilitating Pak-Afghan Taliban talks, adding, while Pakistan approached the negotiations with clarity and seriousness, the Afghan side did not reciprocate the same level of commitment, undermining the process. He emphasised that Pakistan’s stance was non-negotiable when it comes to safeguarding its borders andAqeel Malik further warned that Pakistan is fully capable of defending itself. 

He made it clear that any misadventure or violation of agreed conditions from across the border will be met with a firm response, including targeting the source of threats. He added that Pakistan will respond decisively, including to those who provide shelter or support to militants. Responding to a query, he said Pakistan values and will not jeopardize its bilateral relations with neighboring countries. He emphasized that Pakistan respects its friendly ties and genuinely seeks peace in the region and will never compromise its principles or sit across the table with militants under any circumstances.
