Authorities urged to take notice of Khattak's statement Breaking

December 26, 2023

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senior Vice President Sher Fazl Marwat has demanded authorities take notice of Pervez Khattak's recent statement offering the bat symbol to PTI. Marwat, speaking to the media in Peshawar High Court, asserted that only the Election Commission can assign party symbols and questioned Khattak's motive for proposing an alternative emblem. "Why was there a need to offer the bat symbol?" Marwat asked, highlighting that Khattak had already formed his own party separate from PTI. "Pervez Khattak's statement exposes the collusion between him and the Election Commission," he further claimed, emphasizing that the cricket bat has been and will remain PTI's sole symbol. Marwat also addressed his own political future, revealing that PTI founder Imran Khan had nominated him to contest the NA-32 Peshawar election in the last party meeting.

"I am ready to contest from NA-32 if the party decides," he declared, but added that he is not opposed to other arrangements. "I am not stubborn and will accept whatever decision the party takes," he assured. On the legal front, Marwat expressed confidence in PTI chairman Imran Khan's eventual release on bail in all pending cases, including the cipher, Toshakhana, and Al-Qadir Trust matters. "Imran Khan has already been granted bail in the cipher case," he pointed out, "and bail will be granted soon in the other cases as well." Marwat's statement comes amidst PTI's ongoing concerns about electoral fairness and transparency. He raised the issue of party symbols being potentially taken away, arguing that such actions would disenfranchise voters and hinder free and fair elections.
