Different parts of Mansehra have received the first snowfall of the winter season, turning the weather chilly. Light snowfall has been reported from Babusar Top, Baesar Jhal Khud and Noori Top. Tourists have flocked to Naran and other hill stations to enjoy the weather. The capital city of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK), had received the first snowfall of the season. After a light snowfall on Muzaffarabad's Makra Mountain, cool winds started blowing in the area.
Also, last night’s rain in the area made weather chillier. On the other hand, the Met Office on Saturday forecast thundershowers, accompanied by strong winds, for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), Islamabad, northern Punjab, and coastal areas of Sindh during the next 24 hours. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) had on Wednesday issued a rain alert for different parts of KP, AJK, GB and upper Punjab from October 3 to October 7.
Meanwhile, PDMA Director-General Irfan Ali Kathia said that in view of heavy rains, which were expected to lash the upper parts of the Punjab from October 5 to October 7, all commissioners and deputy commissioners were directed to remain alert during the period. He said that water flow will likely increase in all the rivers and adjacent nullahs and drains of the province. The rain alert was also issued to the Provincial Department of Irrigation, Communication and Local Government, and Livestock. The Director-General advised the general public to adopt protective measures due to bad weather.
