Foiling a bid to smuggle two bears, the Wildlife Department in Lodhran has arrested four people. The department officials said that the bears were being shifted to Mailsi. Waqas, son of Allah Ditta and Farid, son of Allah Bux, were among those taken into custody, they informed. Assistant Chief Wildlife Ranger Samiullah said that later, the bears were shifted to the Bahawalpur Zoo.
He made it clear that the smuggling of wild animals would not be tolerated at any cost, and that action would be taken against those indulging in this practice. It is pertinent to mention here that Punjab s ongoing wildlife protection campaign has led to multiple successful operations across the province, resulting in the rescue of several endangered animals and the recovery of illegally held wildlife.
