Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari departed for Islamabad from Skardu after attending the oath-taking ceremony of newly-elected Chief Minister Amjad.The first Governor of Gilgit-Baltistan, Qamaruz Zaman Kaira, and the newly elected Chief Minister Amjad also accompanied Bilawal Bhutto.Addressing the gathering, Bilawal paid tribute to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan for their sacrifices and praised the legacy of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, saying the region still remembers his role in ending Dogra rule. 

Bilawal said he hopes to see elected representatives from the region serving in Pakistan’s National Assembly and stressed that promises regarding property rights should be fulfilled. Commenting on national security, Bilawal praised the armed forces stationed along the Gilgit-Baltistan border and declared that Pakistan would firmly defend its national interests. Gilgit: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that politics in Pakistan has become synonymous with conflict and division, while calling for greater unity and development during the oath-taking ceremony of Gilgit-Baltistan’s new chief minister.

He also highlighted the potential for agricultural development through public-private partnerships to boost the local economy. The PPP chairman thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for acknowledging his party’s electoral mandate and appreciated the support extended by members of the Pakistan Muslim League in Gilgit-Baltistan. He pledged that his government would work with all political parties, regardless of whether they sit on the government or opposition benches, to promote the region’s development.
