A policeman died when some armed assailants opened fire on him in Bannu.The firing incident took place near Masjid Gul Zaman located in the jurisdiction of Cantonment Police Station Bannu. The dead policeman was later identified as Riaz Shah. Soon after the incident, the assailants fled from the scene. 

Earlier on August 24, 2025, terrorists had attacked a police checkpoint in Bannu district. A fierce exchange of gunfire took place between the police and the terrorists during the attack on Darre Pull Checkpoint. A policeman was wounded in the terrorist attack and he was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
