An additional and sessions court judge on Tuesday extended the interim bail of accused Gogi Butt in the Amir Balaj Tipu murder case till September 29. Gogi Butt was also present in the court of Judge Syed Najaf Haider Kazmi, who heard the case in Lahore.

During the proceedings, Advocate KP Rai, who represented Gogi Butt in court, stated that the investigation officer (IO) had filed a petition without collecting evidence from him, and the court had issued notices on this issue for September 4. He also stated that lawyers are observing a strike today. Later, the court extended the interim bail of Gogi Butt in the case.

After the extension of bail, Gogi Butt immediately left the court amid tight security. Earlier in February 2024, underworld don Amir Balaj Tipu, was shot dead by assailants during a wedding ceremony in Chung area of Lahore. Balaj Tipu was the son of Arif Amir, alias Tipu Trukkanwala, who was also murdered in 2010 at the Allama Iqbal Airport.

Balaj's grandfather had also fallen victim to an old feud. The police said that Balaj was attending a wedding function when a man opened fire at him and two other guests, injuring them critically. Balaj's armed guards retaliated and killed the attacker on the spot. The injured were taken to Jinnah Hospital, where Balaj succumbed to his wounds.
