Court warns to register FIR against PM, govt officials in missing Baloch students’ caseBreaking

November 29, 2023

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq Kakar failed to appear in the Islamabad High Court on Wednesday despite a court order in the case of missing Baloch students. The court was hearing a petition seeking the implementation of the recommendations of the Baloch Students Recovery Commission. The families of the missing students were also present in court. The Attorney General informed the court that the Prime Minister was unable to appear due to being abroad. He also stated that 22 more Baloch students had been recovered, while 28 still remained missing.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani expressed frustration over the lack of progress in the case, stating that it was a matter of fundamental rights. He also questioned the involvement of state agencies in the disappearances. The court warned that if the missing students were not recovered by the next hearing, a registration case would be ordered against the Prime Minister, Interior Minister, and Secretaries of Defense and Interior. The caretaker Interior Minister assured the court that he would meet with the families of the missing students and invite them for dinner.
