In view of risks of terrorism, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), during 415 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted in different districts of Punjab, has arrested 34 terrorists.According to the spokesman for the CTD, operations were conducted in Lahore, Bahawalpur, Nankana Sahib, Rawalpindi, Mianwali, Gujranwala, Jhelum, Narowal, Kasur, Faisalabad, Pakpattan, Sargodha and Sahiwal.  Elaborating further, he said that two terrorists were arrested from Lahore while one was arrested from Bahawalpur.

“Explosives, one hand grenade, 18 detonators, nine EID bombs, cash and pamphlets were also recovered from the suspects,” he added. The spokesman informed that those taken into custody were: Muhammad Ashfaq, Ismael Khan, Naseerullah, Irshadullah, Muhammad Saqib, Muhammad Asjad, Muhammad Shoaib, Azizullah, Mehboob Shah, Ghufran, Ata Muhammad, Suleman Muawia and others. 

He claimed that the suspects had completed planning for attacks on the offices of the law-enforcement agencies. He went on to say that in 5045 combing operations conducted in the province during the ongoing month, 604 suspected terrorists were apprehended. “As many as 209518 people were questioned,” the spokesman informed. He said that the CTD was committed to eradicating terrorism.
