Pakistan Customs and Sindh Rangers carried out a joint anti-smuggling operation in Karachi, seizing a large quantity of smuggled goods, including foreign cigarettes, betel nut, naswar, and catechu. According to Customs officials, the intelligence-based raid was conducted at shops and warehouses located in the Jodia Bazaar area. During the operation, authorities recovered 2,320 cartons of foreign cigarettes, 9,720 kilograms of betel nut, 140 boxes of naswar, and 2,485 kilograms of catechu.
The total market value of the confiscated items is estimated at over Rs10.8 million. Customs officials stated that a case has been registered, and the seized goods have been shifted to the Customs warehouse using seven Mazda trucks.The operation is part of an ongoing nationwide crackdown on the smuggling of non-duty-paid goods aimed at curbing illegal trade and protecting local industries.
