Death toll in Swat blast rises to 16 as two cops succumb to injuriesBreaking

The death toll in the suicide blast outside Swat police station climbed to 16 on Monday morning after two constables succumbed to their injuries at hospital. The investigators have established that the suicide bombing was carried out by an Afghan national whose severed head was located at the blast site. The security forces have launched a senitisation operation in order to hunt down the facilitators of the suicide bomber.

The two constables who expired on Tuesday morning were identified as Mukarram Khan and Hussain Khan. Another 13 policemen were still under treatment at the hospital. In total, nine civilians and seven policemen were martyred in the suicide blast the Kabal Police Station, said a police spokesman. Meanwhile, Namaz-i-Janaza of five policemen were offered at Swat Police Training School with state honours.

Senior civil, police and military officials attended the funeral. Later, the bodies were sent to their native areas. Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has strongly condemned the suicide attack near Kabal Police Station in Swat. The interior minister expressed grief over the loss of precious human lives in the blast. The interior minister also expressed deep sympathy and condolences to the families of the martyrs. Mohsin Naqvi said brave police officers had sacrificed their lives to stop the suicide bomber from entering the police station.
