Strongly condemning the Houthis attack on Saudi Arabia, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Thursday said that the defence and protection of the holy land was the responsibility of the entire Muslim ummah. He said that the sovereignty of Saudi Arabia must be protected at all costs. “Attack on Saudi Arabia is an attack on the entire Islamic world,” he was quoted as saying by a press release issued by the JUI-F’s media cell.

Fazl said that increasing tensions in the Middle East posed a threat to the peace of the entire world. He called upon the Muslim countries to forget their differences and chalk out a joint strategy in order to confront the challenges they were facing. “The present situation has necessitated the formation of an Islamic bloc,” the JUI-F chief asserted. He also urged the government to play an effective role for the unity of the Muslim world and defence of Saudi Arabia.
