A grand collective marriage ceremony under the “Dhee Rani Program” will commence on February 9. Under the program,around 370 couples will tie the knot in a large-scale wedding ceremony aimed at supporting underprivileged families and promoting social welfare. The event was expected to witness participation of more than 8,000 people,including parents,relatives and guests of the brides and grooms.
Minister for Social Welfare Sohail Shaukat will attend the ceremony as the chief guest,while senior district administration officials,political representatives and social figures were also expected to participate in the event. To ensure smooth conduct of the program,strict security and traffic arrangements have been finalized.
District Police Officer(DPO) Hasan Javed Bhatti has directed the police to implement foolproof security measures to maintain law and order and facilitate the participants and guests. Special traffic plans have also been devised to avoid congestion around the venue. Officials said that special gifts and household items will likely be distributed among each newlywed couple on behalf of Punjab government to help them start their married life with dignity and financial support.
The Dhee Rani Program was part of the Punjab government’s social welfare initiatives aimed at reducing the financial burden of marriages on poor families and strengthening social solidarity in society. District administration sources expressed hope that the event would be conducted in a peaceful and well-organized manner, setting an example of collective support for deserving families.
