Eight members of a family, including women and children, were killed and another two injured in a road accident in Hyderabad late on Friday night. The tragedy took place on Kotri Site Road, where a car hit a truck from behind, killing eight people on the spot and injuring two others.

Women and children were among the dead. The ill-fated family was on their way to Thatta from Hyderabad when the accident occurred. Police and rescue teams reached the spot and shifted the dead and injured to the Civil Hospital, Hyderabad. Rescue sources informed that some of the bodies were taken out of the wreckage of the car using heavy machinery.

Police sources said that the deceased were identified as 10-year-old Tora Bibi, seven-year-old Shah Zaib, five-year-old Alam Khan, 50-year-old Ghulam Haider, 45-year-old Raza Khan, 40-year-old Samina, 45-year-old Saili, and five-year-old Janat Bibi. Meanwhile, police have arrested the truck driver and have also started an investigation.
