The Election Tribunal has dismissed a petition challenging the victory of Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ataullah Tarar from NA-127 in the 2024 general elections.
The petition, filed by Malik Zaheer Abbas Khokhar, who had contested against Federal Minister Ataullah Tarar in NA-127, sought to overturn the election result but was declared false, non-maintainable, and without merit.
The tribunal noted that petitioner Khokhar repeatedly sought adjournments and failed to produce any evidence in support of his claims, undermining the proceedings.
In its ruling, the tribunal dismissed the case as lacking merit and evidence and was not maintainable for hearing. The decision upholds Tarar’s electoral success in the constituency.
Barrister Haris Azmat Advocate appeared on behalf of the federal minister, while Prime Minister’s Political Coordinator Syed Tauseef Shah was also present during the hearing.
