Electricity tariff set to go up by Rs2.06 per unitBreaking

All preparations have been finalized to increase the electricity tariff by Rs2.06 paisa under the head of fuel adjustment charges (FCA).The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has submitted a proposal seeking an increase of Rs1.78 per unit in electricity tariffs for January under the fuel adjustment mechanism while the NEPRA had already approved fuel adjustment charges of 28 paisas on the electricity bills for the month of December 2025.

The CPPA has filed a request with the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), which is scheduled to hold a hearing on February 26. According to details, NEPRA sought enhancement in prices under the head of fuel adjustment charges.NEPRA already approved fuel adjustment charges on the electricity bills for the month of December 2025. The increase in electricity prices will be reflected in the electricity bills for the month of February 2026.
