Fawad urges Sohail Afridi's meeting with ImranBreaking

October 31, 2025

Senior politician and former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry on Thursday lambasted the current leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), calling it "immature" and comparing the party's control to "a monkey holding a match."  He expressed regret over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi being barred from meeting jailed PTI founder Imran Khan for the fourth time, describing the restriction as "tantamount to mockery."

Speaking to journalists in Lahore, Chaudhry highlighted Afridi's potential role in securing the party's release from its current crises. "Sohail Afridi, a founder of PTI, came out of jail for the fourth time but was not allowed to meet Imran Khan, which is regrettable and a mockery," he said. Chaudhry criticized the concentration of power within PTI, stating, "The party is in the hands of a few people, like a monkey can get a match."

He urged Afridi to engage with senior leaders, including Shah Mehmood Qureshi, in Kot Lakhpat Jail for "positive advice" and to consult individuals who could help "reduce the temperature" in the ongoing political tensions. On a separate note, Chaudhry endorsed the government's ban on Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), labeling it a "violent group" and asserting that the prohibition was "the right move."
