The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested three officers of the Public Works Department (PWD) and the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) for allegedly manipulating official records to include ineligible people in the list of affected persons from Mouza Thalla and help them secure plots in Islamabad's Sector G-14/3 and its sub-sectors.
It reports in media that following an inquiry, the FIA Anti-Corruption Circle Islamabad filed a case against FGEHA Deputy Director Muhammad Munir, PWD Assistant Executive Engineers Meraj Afridi and Irfan Qureshi, and FGEHA Sub-Engineer/Surveyor Naeem Akhtar, along with Patwari Shakir Hussain and several private individuals. Charges included fraud, deception, alleged bribery, criminal conspiracy, and aiding and abetting.
FIA officials said the accused helped unauthorised persons obtain plots and compensation worth billions of rupees and distributed among themselves. While the investigation of the supplementary award was underway, a team raided various locations and arrested PWD Assistant Executive Engineers Meraj Afridi and Irfan Qureshi, along with FGEHA Sub-Engineer/Surveyor Naeem Akhtar.
