October 07, 2025

A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered in Peshawar over the alleged abduction of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sanam Javed Khan.Sanam Javed was earlier sentenced to five years in prison by an anti-terrorism court in connection with the May 9 riots. Following her conviction, she reportedly went into hiding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to evade arrest and imprisonment.

According to the FIR, lodged by Advocate Hira Babar, the incident occurred on the night of October 6 when she and Sanam Javed were dining at the “Artisan Plate Café” in Peshawar before heading towards the Cantonment area. At around 10:40 pm, near the Civil Officers Colony, a green Vigo vehicle allegedly tried to intercept their car. When they attempted to turn back, a white car blocked them from behind.

Five unidentified men emerged from the vehicles, forcibly took Sanam Javed away, and drove towards the Red Zone. Advocate Hira stated that despite her cries for help and the presence of security personnel nearby, no one intervened as the men took Sanam Javed away. She has termed the incident a grave matter and demanded immediate and transparent investigations, arrest of those involved, and assurance of Sanam Javed Khan’s safety.

It may be recalled that reports of Sanam Javed’s arrest surfaced a day earlier, while her sister, Falak Javed, was taken into custody earlier this week and placed on a four-day physical remand by the court.
