In response to rising summer temperatures and concerns about passenger well-being, the Punjab Transport Department has issued a directive mandating first-aid kits in all public transportation vehicles. The move comes after reports of vehicle accidents and passengers struggling to access timely medical assistance during travel. "The Punjab government has taken serious note of these incidents," a spokesperson for the District Regional Transport Authority (DRTA) Faisalabad said on Friday. The directive applies to all vehicles operating within and outside Faisalabad, including small and large city vehicles, AC coaches, wagons, coasters, and Hino buses. "The first-aid kits will ensure passengers receive immediate medical attention in case of emergencies," the spokesperson explained. The DRTA is also collaborating with the Red Cross Society to provide first-aid training to drivers and conductors. "Strict action will be taken against drivers and transporters found operating vehicles without first-aid kits," the spokesperson warned. "No excuses will be tolerated during inspections."
