The first-ever polio case has surfaced in Gilgit-Baltistan, suggesting that the virus is speading in Pakistan. According to authorities, a 23-month-old child from the Diamer district of Gilgit-Baltistan has been found infected with the polio virus. The number of polio cases in Pakistan this year has reached 11, according to the National Institute of Health in Islamabad.
Meanwhile, a seven-day anti-polio campaign has been completed in Faisalabad. According to the Health Department, more than 1.5 million children, including guest kids, were administered anti-polio drops during the drive. A total of 28,931 children were not found at home during the campaign, the department said, adding that it set a target of vaccinating 1.6 million children.
