Five dacoits were dead and two escaped from the scene during a police encounter in Vehari.The police encounter took place in Chak No. 81-WBD area of Vehari. Later, the dead dacoits were identified as Zakir, Ahmad, Javed and Tariq. The Crime Control Department (CCD) team said that all the dacoits were killed by the firing of their companions.

An accused died on the way to the hospital, and two of his accomplices escaped as three suspicious persons opened fire on a Crime Control Department team in the jurisdiction of Saddar Police Station in the tehsil of Hassanabdal.After the firing was stopped, the accused escaped on a motorcycle, leaving behind the companion.

The dead dacoit was later identified as Abu Bakr Saddique and was wanted by the police in different dacoity and snatching cases. Police, after registering a case started a search operation to apprehend the culprits.Police said that the dead dacoit was later identified as Irshad Meerani. The dacoits were involved in different dacoits, kidnapping for ransom, and other serious criminal cases. Police started a search operation to arrest the accomplices of the dead dacoit.
