As many as 180 guests and workers were evacuated as a fire broke out in Indigo Hotel located at Hussain Chowk in Lahore's posh area of Gulberg on Saturday, causing injuries to five people. According to report, Rescue 1122 firefighters launched a swift operation and were able to bring the blaze under control. They were now checking the hotel again as if there was anyone still trapped inside.
According to initial investigation, the fire broke out in the basement of the hotel due to gas leakage and five people received burn injuries. The injured persons have been shifted to Services Hospital for urgent treatment. Rescue personnel said they faced difficult conditions due to excessive smoke in the basement but they succeeded in dousing the fire. Police said one of the burnt persons has been identified as 46-year-old Mubeen.
