The Punjab food Authority teams seized and discarded 6,000 litres of adulterated milk during inspections of milk-carrying vehicles and milk shops in the city, official said on Thursday.Director Operations of South Punjab Food Authority, Shehzad Magsi, conducted a surprise visit at a checkpoint in Alipur to inspect milk quality, monitor field team performance, and check attendance.
Around 60,000 liters of milk were inspected from different milk shops and vehicles, where seven samples from seven vehicles and shops found failing quality tests.Tests revealed water adulteration and reduced nutritional value. The authority also fined violators a total of Rs 142,000.
Additionally, 10 kilograms of khoya from a unit in Alipur, found made with harmful ingredients, were destroyed and the unit’s production halted until corrective measures are taken.DG Food Authority South Punjab, Muhammad Asim Javed, said strict action is being taken to curb elements harmful to public health.
