A retired policeman was killed when unidentified gunmen opened fire on him in Bannu. The incident took place in Sorangi Mamash Khel area of Bannu. Police said that the armed assailants shot dead Syed Habibullah Shah inside a medical store located in Mamash Khel and escaped from the scene. Soon after receiving the report of the incident, a heavy contingent of police reached the area and shifted the dead body of policeman to a local hospital for post-mortem.

Police also registered a case against the accused and started investigation. Earlier on May 1, 2025, three policemen were martyred while two others were injured when the police and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel came under attack from the militants in Bannu. In retaliation, the police claimed to have killed several militants. The deceased policemen were identified as Binyamin, Inam and Musawwir, while Wafid Khan and Imran were injured.
