Four children were killed and another was injured on Monday when a rusted rocket launcher shell exploded near Zor Garh on the Indus Highway in Kandhkot. According to local residents and the victims’ families, the children had been herding cattle when they discovered the corroded explosive in nearby bushes. Believing it to be harmless, the children began playing with it before it suddenly detonated.
Area residents said that all of the children who died belonged to the same family of the Gola tribe. Police arrived at the scene shortly after the incident was reported and cordoned off the area, launching a full search operation to ensure no other unexploded ordnance was present.
