Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Wednesday held a meeting with Federal Minister for Health Mustafa Kamal to discuss challenges and ongoing initiatives in the health sector of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. During the meeting, Governor Kundi emphasized the importance of federal government support to improve healthcare facilities in the province, particularly in the merged districts and other underdeveloped areas.

He stressed the need to launch modern medical projects to ensure access to quality treatment for people living in remote and marginalized regions. Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal assured full cooperation in strengthening the healthcare system of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that special attention is being given to the health sector across the country and that the federal government is working closely with the provinces to combat diseases and improve public health outcomes.

The federal minister further said that a comprehensive strategy has been formulated to reduce the patient burden on major hospitals. Primary healthcare is being strengthened through digital health initiatives, and the telemedicine system has already been launched to expand access to medical services. Governor Faisal Karim Kundi said that coordinated efforts between the federal and provincial governments are essential to protect the public from diseases.

He urged that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should be given priority under the National Health Support Program. Highlighting ground realities, he said that people from underdeveloped districts still travel to Peshawar for treatment, underscoring the urgent need for well-equipped hospitals and trained medical staff in the merged and southern districts of the province.
