The Young Nurses Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (YNAKP) has urged the provincial government to take steps to improve the healthcare system in the province. In a statement issued on Tuesday, the YNAKP said that the nursing profession is heading towards destruction due to the lack of interest of policymakers and the non-inclusion of nurses' stakeholders in the policies. The association said that the Pakistan Nursing Council has sent clear instructions to the government to include nurses in primary care, but this has not been implemented. The YNAKP also said that the acute shortage of nurses is putting a strain on the existing nursing staff and patients in hospitals.

The association called on the government to immediately provide internship slots for students of government nursing colleges, increase internship salaries, and provide qualified teachers and paid internships for students. The YNAKP also urged the government to regularize the services of hundreds of nurses currently working under the AIP project. The YNAKP said that the nursing profession is in crisis and that the government's inaction is putting the health system at risk. The association said that nurses are essential to the healthcare system and that they deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. The YNAKP called on the government to take immediate action to improve the working conditions of nurses and to ensure that they have the resources they need to provide quality care.
