Gymkhana’s True Mandate ! Transforming Elected Unity into a Sanctuary of Service for the ClubBreaking

Lahore Gymkhana Election’s February 15 official results have created an unprecedented 6-6 split in the 12-member Committee of Management, reflecting a balanced yet divided mandate from 3,158 voting members.
A brief analysis of the results shows:
Salman–Misbah Panel (6 Seats)
Top 6 cumulative votes: 9,131
Monopoly Breakers Panel (6 Seats)
Top 6 cumulative votes: 7,635
(With Dr. Ali Razaque as the highest individual vote getter: 1,772)”Highest Vote since 4 Years”
The figures reflect both a strong cumulative mandate and a powerful individual endorsement. This situation calls for wisdom rather than rivalry.

Why Stability Matters

• Annual elections consume significant financial and administrative resources.
• Nearly three months each year are absorbed in campaigning and related processes.
• A one year tenure often limits the ability to complete meaningful reforms.
A Possible Way Forward (For Consideration)
A two year governance window until February 2028 may be explored, subject to constitutional compliance and General Body approval.

Within that framework:

• A rotational chairmanship may be considered.
• Sub-committee responsibilities could be balanced to ensure inclusive management.
• Financial savings from reduced electoral intensity may be redirected toward development priorities.
This is not presented as a fixed formula, but as a discussion framework to avoid institutional paralysis and preserve Gymkhana’s prestige.

The Spirit Behind the Proposal

The Club exists to provide fellowship, dignity, and excellence to its members not to remain in perpetual electoral contest. If both panels truly seek the Gymkhana’s progress, a cooperative framework may transform this moment of arithmetic deadlock into an example of statesmanship.
