Sindh government has declared a public holiday across the province on Satuirday, August 9, in connection with the annual Urs of Sufi saint Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai. According to the official notification, all government offices and educational institutions in Sindh will remain closed on the day to observe the occasion. All courts across Sindh will remain closed on Saturday, August 9, in connection with the Urs of Sufi saint Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai.
A notification has been issued declaring the holiday.According to the notification, the Sindh High Court, including its benches in Karachi, Sukkur, Larkana, and Hyderabad, along with all subordinate courts, will remain closed for the day. The 282nd annual Urs of renowned Sufi saint Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai will commence on Saturday, August 9, in Bhit Shah. Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori and Provincial Culture Minister Syed Zulfiqar Shah will inaugurate the three-day celebrations.
Preparations for the Urs have been completed, and the Sindh government has declared a public holiday across the province to mark the occasion.To ensure security during the celebrations, the Hyderabad Commissioner has imposed Section 144, banning the display of weapons. A formal notification has been issued in this regard.The three-day Urs will feature traditional events including horse races, a cultural fair, wrestling competitions (Malakhra), a literary conference, and an agricultural exhibition, celebrating the spiritual and cultural heritage of Sindh.
