An Indian attempt to target Lahore Airport was thwarted after an explosive-laden drone was shot down as it was about to hit the main terminal on Thursday morning. According to media reports, the shot Indian drone was in six feet in length and was being operated from across the border. The police sources further said that the drone was apparently launched for surveillance of sensitive places and was taken down after jamming its system.
However, there was a huge explosion when it was shot down when it reaches close to the airport building. According to law enforcement agencies immediately cordoned off the area and launched an investigation.Police confirmed they have taken the drone debris into custody, and forensic analysis was under way to determine the type and origin of the drone. Upon receiving information, both police and other law enforcement agencies reached the crash site, and launched initial investigation.
Following the aerial security breach, air routes over Lahore and Sialkot were temporarily closed for commercial flights. According to a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) issued by aviation authorities, seven air routes over Lahore have been suspended until 12:00 noon today as a precautionary measure.Authorities are treating the incident as serious breaches of Pakistan’s airspace sovereignty, with broader regional implications still under review.
