Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman has strongly condemned the sentences handed down by an Indian court to Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Aasiya Andrabi and her associates, terming the verdict a murder of justice. In a statement posted on X, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman said that the Kashmiri women imprisoned for the past eight years in New Delhi’s notorious Tihar Jail in a fabricated case have become enduring symbols of resistance against India’s occupation.
He stated that the Indian court had awarded Asiya Andrabi, head of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, three life sentences, calling it a blatant violation of human rights and a grave injustice. He further noted that her close associates, Nahida Nasreen and Fehmida Sofi, were each sentenced to 30 years in prison, which he termed another example of state repression.
Rehman emphasized that the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people would not go in vain and that their struggle for freedom would ultimately reach its logical conclusion. He also urged the Pakistani government to adopt a more proactive and effective diplomatic strategy on the Kashmir dispute.
